Native Plants - Elderberry

Who knew? I thought Elderberry was a cold clime plant, but there's a So Cal native: Sambucus mexicana aka: blue elderberry. It grows near rivers and waterways, implying it might prefer heavy water, but further research tells me it likes full sun to part shade. It will take extreme drought after it gets its roots out.

Elderberry syrup is good if you have a cough and don't forget that Elderberry wine.
