2003 in Retrospect
New Years Survey

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
Witnessed a birth.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t remember if I had any. But yes, I inted to excersise and get my doula certification this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! nakeygirl

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank the gods.

5. What countries did you visit?
I didn’t actually leave the country this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
Money and more dancing.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
No dates. I’m no good with numbers. Tamlin was born in February and that’s sure to stick with me.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I paid off more debt.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finishing all my doula certification stuff.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I sprained an ankle that wouldn’t heal. And I’ve had a shitload of non-stop colds since September.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought patch the special edition DVD of Two Towers.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
nakeygirl, her husband Timmy and Tiana – they are amazing people.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
”President” Bush

14. Where did most of your money go?
To pay off debt.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Pirates of the Caribbean and Return of the King.

16. What song will always remind you of 2003?
Dunno. I don’t really know titles of songs and as I believe I’ve mentioned, I have no head for numbers. I still look at other people to reference what year the whole 9/11 thing went down.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier

ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter *sigh*

iii. richer or poorer? Technically richer


18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Danced. Spent more time with friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting on my ass.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family and friends.

22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
No, that was 2002. I’m still in love.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
CSI, Smallville, Las Vegas and any of the Law and Order shows.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, still hate the leader of the “free world” .

26. What was the best book you read?
Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Keb’ Mo – he plays down home blues.

28. What did you want and get?
More of my debts paid off.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Pirates of the Caribbean and Return of the King.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went out to dinner. Thirty four.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting my doula certification.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
I don’t think I have one.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp & Nicole Kidman

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The environment, although I had a lot to say about Bush in general.

37. Who did you miss?
Old friends.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Jody is cool peeps. Tamlin is adorable, but doesn’t talk so much. And well, I met a few other nifty folks this year that I look forward to getting to know better.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003:
Patience is a skill that should be cultivated.
