So I spent Christmas week with my father and his wife (and Patch too) at their cabin in West Virginia. We had a great time.

Highlights include:
Hunting and bringing home a tree from the yard. (Huge tree! Pics later)
Homemade eggnog. (Made by me. Heaven in a cup.)
Homeade pasta. (Made by Patch. Supervised by Pam.)
Homeade sourdough. (Made by me and Dad. Supervised by Pam.)
Amazing food. (Made by Dad & Pam.)
Reading good books. (Written by John Scalzi. If you don't know him and like Scifi, you're missing out.)
Sitting in front of a warm firplace.
Laughing with those I love.

Lowlights:
Being late for the scheduled flight.(Luckily we knew it was postponed.)Only to have it postoned even later.
Being early for the return flight.(Knowing it had been shifted to a 1/2 hour earlier, necessitating a 4:15am wake up.) Only to have the flight postponed an hour.
Getting a call from the wonderful Teaa, telling us that Patch's 18 year old kitty died.(*sigh* Condolences are appreciatedby me, but Patch would prefer not to hear from people about it.)

At some point during the next 5 days (in which I do not work *yay!*) I'll be transfering photos and posting them.

LosCon was a blast. I’m finding myself riding this high of meeting new people; amazing, intelligent and erudite people. My mind has been stimulated and I’ve been re-invigorated.

We rolled into Vegas late Thursday/early Friday. It was something like 3am before we got to sleep. So began the weekend of very little sleep.

Friday )There was some winding down in the party room after we got back to the Suncoast, but mostly I collected [livejournal.com profile] fyrebringer and [livejournal.com profile] angelloffyre who were to help me keep my bed free of menfolk for the night. That is all I'm willing to share about my evening. ;-)

Saturday )And now we get to it... the wedding itself )

From Sunday on )

I just had the best lunch experience ever!

I ran out with a co-worker to Famima! to buy some lunch. Just after crossing the Hollywood and Highland intersection, we see a park. Actually, a parking spot, turned into a park.

A wonderful woman had put down sod, a park bench, a card table, two folding chairs, pots with wild flowers, sunflowers and some bushes around the area. And to top it if, she put up a sun shade and a sign that said "sit and enjoy your lunch".

We just couldn't pass that up. We went in, bought some sushi, sat in the shade and enjoyed our food and some gossip. It was really funny to have the tourists taking pictures and the non-tourists looking at us like we were insane. But seriously, it was a beautiful little park. Why not take advantage?

It's part of the Parking Day LA project: http://www.parkingdayla.com/ Which was actually borne out of the "Park(ing) Day" Conceived by REBAR, a San Francisco-based art collective, PARK(ing) Day is a one-day, global event centered in San Francisco where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks. http://www.parkingday.org/

Why yes, I am a dirty hippie. Why do you ask?

We have returned. Thank you all of you for your good wishes.

The trip was great. We saw many things and walked many miles. We were surrounded by history, ate good food and shared happy times with friends.

I did not succeed in journaling as much as I liked, but I am planning on transcribing what was journaled, here to share with you all. And I will be posting links and sharing some select photos.

I'm going to read some LJ now, but I know I'll never catch up. Anything major you want to share? Otherwise you can tell me all about it next time we get together.

Yes, I am alive and well and I love you all. I just have no time these days and so I haven't been reading much. I hope good things are coming to the people I love.

Yesterday was a wonderful day. Patch woke up with me and wished me a "happy name game day". We had a lovely relaxing morning and then went shopping. My shoppies failed, apparently cargo pants are no longer in style for women. (I'll be trying the mall today, we'll see if that works out better. Anyone want to join me? Call me.)

We went to the Men's Warehouse and bought Patch several dress shirts, a couple of pairs of slacks, silk (!) shorts and a lovely silk/cotton blend polo shirt. My man is going to look sharp at the blues festival. He's also tired of me always being dressed better than him when we go out.

When we got home I took the most disgusting bath on the planet. I exfoliated with a big heavy brush, then I exfoliated with a honey/baking soda blend. It was definitely icky, but my skin is finally improving.

(Aside: I had this weird extra dry, itchy skin thing going on. When I lotioned it just got kind of thick. Dermatologist proscribed Salix, which is a cream containing Salicylic Acid, to exfoliate and moisturize at the same time. Patch & I both decided my skin is way to sensitive/delicate/thin for that kind of thing. I got a scrubby brush and have been dry brushing my skin and lotioning with Cocoa Butter Cream twice a day. Much, better. In fact, I'm almost back to normal.)

We got dressed to the nines and went out for a fabulous dinner, accompanied by exquisite wine and lovely conversation. All in all, our fifth year anniversary celebration was a roaring success.

Last night was marvelous! I went out for Sushi with my honey, [livejournal.com profile] claymation, her fiance and the chance addition of [livejournal.com profile] executivegoth. Then, at [livejournal.com profile] executivegoth's suggestion we went to the 10pm Imax of 300, where we were joined by Young Mr. Alex and [livejournal.com profile] executivegoth's housemate.

All of this joy resulted in staying up way past my bedtime. Now I have a sore throat. But life isn't life unless you live it, right?

I love my friends. I love my life.

PS: 300 rocks!!!

PPS: I'm considering dressing as the queen for Comi-con. Will I be one of thousands?
