The answer was, you kids already had something planned; have fun. No hissy fits or guilt trips or anything. *yay!*

First: Go read Wil Wheaton’s latest blog post on role playing games and imagination. It’s ok, I’ll wait….

So I spent Christmas week with my father and his wife (and Patch too) at their cabin in West Virginia. We had a great time.

Highlights include:
Hunting and bringing home a tree from the yard. (Huge tree! Pics later)
Homemade eggnog. (Made by me. Heaven in a cup.)
Homeade pasta. (Made by Patch. Supervised by Pam.)
Homeade sourdough. (Made by me and Dad. Supervised by Pam.)
Amazing food. (Made by Dad & Pam.)
Reading good books. (Written by John Scalzi. If you don't know him and like Scifi, you're missing out.)
Sitting in front of a warm firplace.
Laughing with those I love.

Lowlights:
Being late for the scheduled flight.(Luckily we knew it was postponed.)Only to have it postoned even later.
Being early for the return flight.(Knowing it had been shifted to a 1/2 hour earlier, necessitating a 4:15am wake up.) Only to have the flight postponed an hour.
Getting a call from the wonderful Teaa, telling us that Patch's 18 year old kitty died.(*sigh* Condolences are appreciatedby me, but Patch would prefer not to hear from people about it.)

At some point during the next 5 days (in which I do not work *yay!*) I'll be transfering photos and posting them.

Last night I made "Calabasitas" for dinner. It's a squash and tomato dish that my mother, learned from her mother-in-law, who learned it from her mother-in-low (aka: my paternal great-grandmother).

I used tomatoes from my mom's boyfriends garden. Last night's dinner made me feel quite accomplished and bound to my family. *grin*

My family just sent me this. As most of you know I'm a liberal, pagan, hippie freak. Needless to say I disagree with the following. I thought it was fascinating that they should believe everyone feels the same.
***************

Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our

faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to

stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you

know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right

away, before NBC takes this off the web page.

Poll is still open so you can vote.

This is not sent for discussion, if you agree forward it, if

you don't, delete it.

By me forwarding it, you know how I feel. I'll bet this

was a surprise to NBC.

Needless to say, I voted as opposed to just deleting it. I guess I'm a rebel. I will also be responding. I have an essay somewhere on the whole in God we trust thing. And I believe that discussion is important.

Busy, busy, busy. Trying to keep up w/LJ somewhat. I think I'm a day or two behind. Thursday my father and aunts arrive for a family re-union on Saturday. There will be much in the way of family stuff over the next four days.
