Do you prefer to write your rough drafts longhand or on the computer? Please elaborate.

Computer. I type faster than I write, so I can keep up with my thoughts better. Plus, it's easier to delete whole passages without confusing things with arrows, asterisks, etc..

depends on what i'm writing.

sometimes creativity flows best outside, so a nice notebook and the right pen can be the best tools.

and sometimes its late at night and something about the glow of the monitor is enough to push you into creative ecstacy.

If I'm writing longhand, it's because my computer is broken. Or I'm too drunk to reach the keyboard.

I sketch in a sketchbook, somtimes, and then later I write (at a computer) about what I drew.... Does that count?

computers are great! Pens and paper are faster when you are out and about. My laptop is no good for a quick jot.

actually the tablet pc is awesome for just what you are talking about. another tool I hear about is mind manager. I wrote all of these posts using my tablet and handwriting recognition with no corrections needed for recogntion errors.
mind manager is an outline type program on steroids
