I would've pegged you more as Carole Lombard, somehow. But Myrna Loy is awesome. After her acting career was mostly over, she did a lot of work for the UN, and she was active in a number of liberal causes. In her autobiography there's a wonderful anecdote about her snubbing Ronald Reagan (whose politics she despised) at some state dinner.
