I was daydreaming on my lunchtime walkies, like you do, and it was a "rescue me" scenario. The details are unimportand and sound infinitely stupid when shared. Essentially, I was put in a position where I could not get myself home in the middle of a workday.
I didn't want to pull Patch away from the office, so I started to think of which friends I could call who are underemployed or otherwise not normally locked in a building every day. My brain immediately lists
executivegoth,
mlerules,
ebony_sphinx and finally (with some trepedation 'cause of the mom-thing and the always-busy-thing)
stacymckenna. Only later, while I'm constructing the fantasy dialog with
executivegoth does it dawn on me that I could call... my mother!
So now I'm wondering why in god's name my mother wasn't one of the first people to come to mind. Well, let us examine the evidence: A)Mommy trained me when she started working to always call my father to come get me out of school. He was always closer and my mother was a teacher and felt she would be to greatly missed if she left work. B)I have trained myself not to call my parents the instant I need help. I'm an independent adult and can get myself out of whatever mess I put myself in. Dammit! Or at least I do my best immitation thereof. C)My mother is recently retired, so I haven't gotten used to the idea that she is free during the day.(See point A - as a note: point A is also my rationale behind my who to call list.)
Hmmmm...strange things in my brain.
