Today I aproached the big scary machines and gave them a try. I did an upper body workout only.

I did three sets of 10 reps at 30 lbs on the ab machines. I definitely worked my lats on the the twisty machine, but I don't think I did things right on the machine that worked my upper abs. Although, on the plus side, I didn't hurt myself. I think next week I'll try the crunch machine and push for 15 reps depending on how it feels.

I worked my biceps and my triceps with two sets of 15 reps at 20 lbs each. I definitely felt the burn. (Boy Howdy, am I weak!) And then I worked on this big giant machine (two sets of 15 reps at 35 lbs) which worked my Deltoids, Shoulders, Upper Back and Chest, as well as my triceps again, so mostly I just felt it in my triceps and as I sit here at rest, I can recognize the slowly building muscle soreness in my shoulders and pecs. I'm not particularly satisfied. I feel like I missed some muscle groups. Next week I will investigate some of the other machines and see if I can't find a better solution.

Tommorrow cardio. Thursday... legs!

I don't know if you gym offers it, but many offer a fitness evalutaion which includes putting together an exercise routine to help you achieve your fitness goals. And I'm sure if you asked they'd be happy to show you how to use all the machines, the last thing they'd want is for you to get hurt. I had to ask how to use them all too The evaluation is usually an extra fee, but I think it's worth it to ensure a full body work out that's right for your fitness level and goals.

Hahaha, of course it would be me that would make the suggestion. You know, me who hates being outside because there are too many strangers. If I ask for help in a store, it's an accomplishment worth mentioning and it took me years to build up the nerve to be able to use a drive-thru, because it was talking to a stranger.

Trust me, it's worth at least asking.

you might be able to find something like that online, if you had a general idea of what you wanted to work on body area wise...then when you are all strong and know the gym like the back of your hand, you can talk to a stranger!!

Sounds like a good workout! If you EVER need or want help with the gym and all the freaky machines I would be glad to help.
I had to learn how to use them all for cheer, and worked with a personal trainer all last summer so I understand the majority of them...
Just a thought....=) KEEP IT UP!!
By the way U R NOT weak, just getting stronger, it takes time..
