This article in Wired has me near tears: http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,72972-1.html?tw=wn_story_page_next1
For the impatient, I will sum up. Yahoo handed over someone's info to the Chinese government and now this guy is in jail. I find it amazing all the people who are ready to boycott Yahoo and screaming at the top of their lungs about the human rights violations and yet they don't see the parallel to our own country. I am deeply saddened and afraid because people don't seem to see that if you think it's not OK for a corporation to violate privacy for one government it's not ok for them to do that for any government.
US or China, sure we can say what we want on the internet, but really if the government decides I'm "the enemy" what's the frakking difference?
