Weekend Report: Familia

I just had a great weekend. The whole thanksgiving/family thing went off well. I had good visits with my family members.

I find I am more an more impressed with my cousin Joe and his girl. They are currently living with my Uncle (Joe's grandfather) "to save money". The added benefit (something no one mentions to the old man) is that he is not alone. Due to their work schedules there is someone in the house almost 24/7. They are also working on the property helping him keep it clean and attempting to restore it to it's former glory. With his Cancer diagnosis and the death of his wife this last year, I'm glad someone was able to step up and really help my Uncle. His children are all doing what they can, but they have families and careers and don't live nearby.

There was food and memories and gossip. The day was filled with general cheer and while there were some political discussions that increased the tension a little, nothing got out of hand. There was nothing that happened to make me feel like an alien; which to me qualifies as a good family party.

Oh, how very nice. My T-giving this year was far better than last year's (when I was home sick). Each of us (lightfoote, and I) made some stuff so nobody had to do it all and we worked together to prepare a mighty fine feast which we then ate together. Lots o' leftovers and apparently ALF made a great turkey soup after I left. I'm home now for weeks and weeks, which makes me very happy.

Really enjoyed seeing you, albeit briefly, w'end before last. Have a MARVELOUS time on your honeymoon. Looking forward to pics 'n' tales...
