Morgan Freeman just paid for the high school in his hometown to have an integrated prom. Yeah, you read that right: a prom which is *not* segregated.

When I read this I cried. I can't wrap my brain around the fact that this shit still exists on this level. I knew it was out there, but I didn't realize that there were still "whites only" events that weren't sponsored openly by the KKK or somesuch.

I've also been dealing with racism all my life and even in my own family. I understand the politics of institutionalized racism. My mind is just blown by the idea that something so blatant still exists.
