Ladies and Gentlemen, my Uncle Wally! (He's actually my Grandmother's second cousin twice removed or somesuch, but in my day related elders were refered to respectfully as aunt/uncle. And when someone is your ticket to Disneyland, you are very respectful.)
I'm so glad I found this Muppet Wiki. Now I actually know *which* episode of the Muppet Show he was on (520). Of course, I have to get my hands on the CD-set "A Musical History of Disneyland".
You remember "E Tickets"? (Keep your mouths shut, ya infants!) Well, I used to get magical "good for any ride A-E" tickets! We always did our Disneyland tour by going on all the "E ticket" rides first. Once we were tired of those, we'd move down to the "D ticket" and so forth. Of course, I always saved a ticket for my favorite "A" ride... It's a Small World.
I used to love going to see him at the Golden Horseshoe. He would always reserve a table for us up front. One year, the dancing girls pulled my cousin Eddie up on stage. (He was 6 or 7 and cute as a button.) Wally says to him, "So young man, what's your name?". My cousin laughed and said, "Uncle Wally, you know my name!". As I recall he was given a lollypop the size of his head and told to get off the stage.
Now when I go, I look for his window on mainstreet and I remember when he told my friend Crystal and I that we reminded him of Piggy & Kermit. (This was right after the taping of the show, like the week after.) Now the reason we reminded him of those two...I was in a green dress and my friend was in a pink one. We thought he was an increadibly silly man. :-)
And a trivia note: It is well known that he's the voice of Jose in the Enchanted Tiki Room, what is not known is that he based the accent on another one of my uncles (don't ask me which one - my grandfather was one of 12). *grin*
