The North Dakota House just passed a measure declaring that "any organism with the genome of homo sapiens" is a person protected by rights granted by the North Dakota Constitution and state laws. Read about it here.Of course this is the same state that passed a constitutional gay marraige ban in 2004.

I wonder if chicken embryo with part of the human genes spliced into it would be protected? Maybe someone should try.

Aren't there only like 300 people in North Dakota? We could take 'em.

No we cannot. It is their state and they have a right to run it the way they want.

No I am just wishing the will catch up in some areas. In other areas I wish Ca. would get our heads out of our asses. IE. the Second Amendment means what it says. Shall not be infringed is not difficult. In other Area's I wish everyone would catch up to me. IE. You don't believe abortions are right. Great don't get one. You don't believe in gay marriage. Great don't marry the same sex you are. Your views should be how you live your life not how you expect everyone else to.

I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with you. ;)

I am sure we can agree on many things. I am just not the best at expressing my views in written form. :)

It's actually very forward thinking. It establishes that the other sub species (Homo sapiens idaltu and [depending on which book you read] Homo sapiens neanderthalensis) are legally people in North Dakota.

As for protection, E. coli and yeast are spliced with human genes to make insulin.

Think of the quadrillions and quadrillions of E. coli killed just so diabetics can live. It's just like killing babies so Christopher Reeve could walk.

I suppose they have the funds and personnel to open a manslaughter investigation on each and every menstrual period -- after all, it might have been a miscarriage.

Bwah!
But what do we do for all those poor E. coli and yeasts?

Ah. So they've finally admitted that bonobos are people. I think that's mighty progressive of them. ;-)
