This quote really spoke to me, although I'd make it even more general and state that part of what makes navigating the waters of ANY R-SHIP INVOLVING SEX so challenging is that, as a couple or with an INDIVIDUAL, it's not always so easy to tell if'n you're a chew toy or what (and if so, it can hurt like hell):

I'd like to think I've made it clear that I enjoy playing with my friends, but the way my relationship stands with Patch is that we're supposed avoid anything deeper outside of the two of us. But I have to admit, I often wonder if I've done so. Maybe that's why so far I've mostly played with those friends who are a little "freer" with themselves.
