Good article. There is an interesting thing about beauty that I thought was interesting. There is a math to it. typically I think there are 3 factors to beauty. 1 Confidence, 2 physical beauty, 3 Health and chemistry between the observer and the observee. the first 2 are all that really translate into pictures.
Physical beauty can actually be measured. http://goldennumber.net/beauty.htm The other thing that effects beauty is Health as the more symetrical a face the more attractive it is. What is insteresting is the fact that what causes asymetry is illnesses. for example a person who has lots of sinus infections will typically have cheeks that are asymetrical. SO we a geared to look for healthy mates.
A perfectly symmetrical face, though, creeps people out and is considered inherently less attractive. If you take an image of someone's face and mirror one half along the center line, it is often considered less attractive than the original, less symmetrical face. Most beauty marks CAUSE dis-symmetry (like Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark, etc.).
That is interesting. I just get kinda ticked off that Blue Eyes, Blondes are held up as the epitome of beauty. Did you see the Miss USA pageant last night? The girl who won is exactly what I'm talking about.
