Now, for my version of your question, why is our federal government mistaking civil with religious marriages with this attempt to write religious bias into our Constitution? Let religions regulate religious ceremonies, and let government regulate civil ceremonies in a *non-discriminatory* manner.
Marriage is an institution of cultural continuance, but many marriages in many cultures are not religious.
